Hexagonal

I'm not sure if this is an individual or a small studio, but never the less what they do is quite interesting. Hexagonal. The work that attracted me to this page has a lot in common with Olly Moss's work in both its Principal and its execution, although I find the links with the movie posters on this page even more vague.

Matisse

I will now admit to my poor memory. Earlier this year I saw a BBC documentary on the life and work of Matisse, but since then I keep forgetting his name every time his work comes to mind. A predominant focal point of the program was Matisse's interest in the use of colour and how that has trickled down and now shapes how we perceive and use colour in art and design. For instance his work "Icare" (Icarus) 1943 stuck in my mined as it was shown as a starting point for what we now see in the earlier apple Ipod adverts.

In addition, this work also reminds me of what I have seen from Saul Bass and in turn his influence on the work of Olly Moss.

Dr Sketchies

Need to Keep an eye on this. Dr Sketchies is hosted all over the world, I remember them doing dates in Huddersfield a couple of years ago but now they seem to be based in Leeds. A combination of both Burlesque and Life drawing. Looks both Hot and Awesome.

Guardian Culture

I came across an interesting article in the Guardian On Line. It offers insider and expert tips on staying ahead and finding the best quality art and culture out there. I hope they repeat and update this article every year.

Instructibles

My friend Kat just showed me a really great site called Instrucktibles. Basically people posting tutorials on how they built their funky costumes and props. In fact just about anything from Food, lifestyle to custom fixtures and fixings. Fantastic, check it out. Here is a photo of a statue someone made of their Queen Alien. How awesome is that? It was created by a gent who goes by the name of Alex the Movie Geek. He is listed as a Pro Instrucktable on the site, its easy to see why looking at all of his work.

Olly Moss

Ok I just came across the work of a brilliant dessigner and thinker who produces work in a style similer to that of Saul Bass. In perticular I like Ollys Fillms in Black & Red posters, so classy.
Bellow is my favorite poster in the line (kind of, they are all amazing) I like how manny of them can only be understood if you have actualy seen the films and are often related to pinical moments or aspects of the films. Check out his work.
